Curriculum Development
As a curriculum developer, I work as part of collaborative curricula and product team that creates thoughtful and engaging science units for middle and high school. I'm currently working with Science Education and Public Understanding Program at Lawrence Hall of Science / UC Berkeley developing the Scientific Thinking For All curricula. This is a collaboration between UC Berkeley and Nobel Prize Outreach program to adapt the Cal undergrad course called Sense & Sensibility & Science, a course developed by Nobelaureate Saul Perlmutter.
Previously I worked on the AmplifyScience elementary and middle school digital curricula. These are inquiry based, NGSS-aligned units that engage students with an authentic problem context, while helping them develop science/engineering practice and literacy skills. As a curriculum developer, I served as a science content matter expert and was involved in production from the beginning to end of several of the units, including planning out the content and learning activities, standards alignment, creating student and teacher facing materials, consulting on texts and multimedia for the units, and readying the units for editing and publishing.

Classroom Curriculum
As a veteran classroom teacher, I've always enjoyed creating and modifying curricula to meet the varied needs of my students. I taught Biology/life science, Earth science, Environmental science, and Civics in public high school and continuation school settings. In 2009, I received an award from the US Green Building Council for a curriculum project I wrote called the Green Dream House Design Contest (original submission below).
I've also created my own course as a childbirth educator, teaching pregnant people and their partners about the biology of pregnancy and labor, as well as labor techniques and newborn care.
